Zeve, an Artificial Intelligence to fight against loneliness

zeve

Many people find themselves alone, with no one to talk to, and although there are several projects created to help them, Artificial Intelligence can do a good job in this regard.

We are still in the first steps to be able to boast of having a good company robot. Alexa, Siri and Google can entertain us for a while, but that does not mean that they can fight against the loneliness of the users.

This is where Zeve appears, an Artificial Intelligence partner created to help reduce stress, loneliness and boredom. His tone is friendly and cheerful for talking, playing and discovering new things, although at the moment it only works in English.

He is able to speak on various topics, can emulate facial expressions and learn things every day. When you don’t know something, you can search the Internet and express your own thoughts.

The project was born from the hands of Anna Cejudo and Pau Garcia-Mil, of whom we have spoken on several occasions in the last 14 years. They comment that in parallel they have created Cerebro, an open source AI knowledge base that powers Zeve’s brain, and is released under the AGPLv3 license.

With brains, our goal is to empower the multitude of AIs who will be able to speak and discuss a wide variety of topics conversationally. We hope that entities and individuals around the world will contribute to collectively develop and grow Cerebro and transform existing or new AIs.

At the moment they are in their initial phase, and personally I have encountered several problems at the time of maintaining a stable conversation (the message of I have not understood you appears too often). Even so, they have an initial group of more than 30 collaborators around the world, with a community of volunteers and contributors that grows every day, so it is worth having Cerebro and Zeve on the radar.
