In November, we commented that WhatsAppe was testing the verification in two steps, in one of the beta versions. And now, this option is being extended to all users, on its different platforms.
If the app has already been updated to a new version, we will find this extra option to strengthen security, in Settings >> Account. In addition to the options that we already know, we will have two-step verification.
The dynamics that must be followed to activate this option is very simple, and if we use some of the popular services we have surely already gone through this process. We just have to put a 6-digit code, which will be the one that will be asked when we register our phone number with WhatsApp.
And since there are always distracted users who forget the keys they put to the apps or services, WhatsApp also asks us to enter an email address, so that in case of forgetting we can request a code change. This measure is optional, but if we are within this user group, this could work as a plan b, and prevent the account from being blocked.
And although an extra security measure does not hurt, before activating this function, let's take a look at the WhatsApp FAQ, which details some situations that could be generated when using it, and which can cause some headaches.
