In TikTok it is common to find videos where users make two using videos previously available from other users, finding us from synchronized dances to curious and fun situations.
In fact, given the success of this feature, from TikTok they tried to enhance it with the launch of new designs, which allows new creative situations. And this is where some rivals want to go.
For now to be to respond to Snaps
And it is that no matter how much you want to compete with TikTok, for now they will have a long way to go to provide the necessary tools and resources that allow them to be at an equivalent level.
In this sense, on Snapchat they are working on a similar function called Remix. Discovered for the first time by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, Remix wants users to be able to respond to their friends’ Snaps by reusing those Snaps together with their own videos on the same screen.
In this regard, TechCrunch points out that Snapchat is already testing this feature as is Instagram, which also has a similar function available as a public test.
According to statements by a spokesperson to the aforementioned publication:
I can confirm that we are externally testing the ability to reply to a friend’s story with a remixed Snap (…) It allows you to build on your friend’s Snap while recording yours alongside the original while playing for contextual conversations on Snapchat
Snapchat Remix offer users a number of layout options or templates to combine the Snaps.
To this we must add that the function also has its own dynamics so that users can establish who can use their Snaps for Remix and who can not, as in the permissions of TikTok.
It will be a matter of time before Remix testing spreads among Snapchat users, and may even logically also reach Spotlight, which is Snapchat’s truly competing feature over TikTok.
It is clear that TikTok has become the mirror in which to be reflected by some of the rivals when it comes to wanting to increase the creative possibilities for their users, who need more options with which to create their videos to reach their friends, and in your case, to the general public.
It will be a matter of time for the rest of the users to see the final result, and to know if something similar will also reach other platforms.
