Open Educational Resource university (OERu) is a new educational platform that promises to revolutionize tertiary education, as you have mentioned in your press release.
It is a non-profit initiative coordinated by the OER (Open Education Resource) foundation and the support of UNESCO. The idea is to offer free university courses based on OER resources, and with the possibility of accessing academic credits. To do this, count on the collaboration of more than thirty institutions from different countries that share the commitment of open education for all.
The dynamics they propose in the courses is similar to what we have already seen on other platforms, although with some interesting details such as the option of choosing between taking the entire program or choosing the content of our interest. Each of the modalities will have its corresponding certification approving our participation.
As for academic credits, these will depend on the options presented by each course and the requirements established by the institution that offers it. What they do guarantee from OERu is that the rates to pay for the credits will be affordable, with the freedom to access this option when we are ready for the corresponding evaluation.
We can already see some of the platform’s proposals from its course catalog, which will see its beginning at the beginning of next year.
