After the publication on Mentaway at Techcrunch a lot is being said about the product on the web. Taking advantage of the fact that the founders are Brazilian, I got in touch with Gisele Muller, one of the heads behind that application that will give a lot to talk about, to ask her some questions about the project.

What is Mentaway ?.

Mentaway is an application that adds several social services with support for geographic location, integrating with applications such as Twitter, Flickr, Foursquare and other microblogging services such as Posterous, on a map, showing all the places visited and creating a new concept of travel.

The objective is to try to contextualize a trip, facilitating the follow-up of friends and family and helping to answer questions of the type Where is that photo from or Where is that city.

Who are you behind the project?

The idea of ​​Mentaway was Eduardo Sasso, I (Gisele Muller) am the co-founder. In the design part we have the help of Fabio Sasso (Abduzeedo) and Fabiano Meneghetti.

Why did you decide to create this type of service?

We decided to create Mentaway because we love to travel and we identified the opportunity to create a service that would be useful to us and also to others who share this passion for travel and technology.

The idea came up when we were planning our trip to California (where we are currently). The original idea was to create a very simple blog, but it evolved until Eduardo began to develop the integration of geographic location services into a travel concept. At that moment we saw that the idea had greater potential and we got down to business to implement a vein version and analyze the result.

Will we have a version in other languages?

We are still in the initial phase of the launch, but with time we will be able to make versions in other languages, depending on the interest of the users.

How do you envision Mentaway in the next two years?

We want to implement many things and further develop the concept, but the idea is to be a reference in ‘travel blogging’.

What is or be the business model?

We are still defining many things, but the idea is to make a free version with ads and a paid version without advertising and with more privacy options.
