So you can use WhatsApp from the computer and anywhere.
If we talk about messenger apps, WhatsApp must be in the conversation. Its popularity is beyond doubt and, despite the fact that there are more and more and on many occasions more complete alternatives, it continues to grow in the number of users.
The latest figures offered by Facebook let us see, once again, the enormous volume of people using WhatsApp: nothing less than 1.2 billion active users communicate through the app. WhatsApp is available for Android, iOS (on the iPhone) and Windows Phone, although they also maintain versions for platforms such as Symbian and BlackBerry, but there is still a large percentage of users who do not know the possibility of using WhatsApp from the computer.
WhatsApp for computer: how it works
If there is something that WhatsApp has been criticizing for years, it is the impossibility of using the application in more than one device at the same time. That is, being able to communicate from our secondary mobile, tablet, computer or smartphone all with the same account.
This is still not possible today, but we can use WhatsApp from any computer using the browser or, directly, by installing the WhatsApp application. They are not exactly new functions, WhatsApp Web was introduced in 2015 and the apps for Windows and Macs date from mid-2016, but many users still do not know about them.
The drawback is the same as always: we depend on our smartphone, but hey, something is something.
WhatsApp from the browser with WhatsApp Web
If you want to use WhatsApp directly from the browser, you simply have to enter:
There you will see a QR code that you will have to read with your mobile. Enter the WhatsApp application settings and you will see the option. Scan and go, it will automatically appear in the browser.
In addition, this same system serves as a trick to use WhatsApp from a tablet, as we explain here:
How to install WhatsApp on Windows and Mac
The previous method is used to use WhatsApp from the browser, but if we are almost always going to be in front of our own computer, perhaps the most interesting and comfortable way is to use the applications of WhastApp for Windows and Mac.
As we said before, they are not exactly new but there are still millions of users who do not know them because they simply do not know how to reach them or that they exist. Just go to section Download from the official WhatsApp website and we will see the installers:
WhatsApp for Windows and Mac
Is available WhatsApp for Mac OS X (now known as macOS) and for Windows, compatible from Windows 8 onwards and with 32 and 64 bit versions. Users of Linux and other operating systems should resort to the web version.
We simply download and install as with any other application and when opening it we return to the previous process: we will have to scan the QR code that appears in the app with our mobile and that’s it.
We remember once again that all these applications are independent, all the data is taken from our mobile and therefore we depend on the smartphone and its connection to use WhatsApp from any other device.
