Encicloabierta is a non-profit web project that was born from the Mexican portal Enciclomedia, created by an agreement between several Mexican educational institutions and Microsoft with the aim of linking the content of textbooks to various audiovisual and interactive resources that were used in the classroom.
The portal offers more than 400 Multimedia Educational Resources with all its technical and pedagogical information mainly for areas of mathematics, Spanish language, natural sciences, social sciences and culture. The quality of the content is excellent and it is worth noting the abundance of resources that can be used by teachers to work on the emotional intelligence of students, such as Knowing how to decide, counts or Rights are born and made.
According to one of its creators, Encicloabierta intends to invite developers and programmers from all over Mexico to build free and open platforms as an alternative to the proprietary platform on which Enciclomedia currently operates and which presents access problems for many of the schools attached to it. .
In Mexico, a whole controversy was unleashed due to the presentation of this initiative, however, thanks to the decision that some of the programmers took at the time to liberalize the content of the original Enciclomedia, today all teachers on the planet can benefit from the use of the wonderful resources that Encicloabierta offers.
In order to enjoy the content it offers, it is recommended to use Firefox or Explorer, since the activities of Encicloabierta do not work well in Google Chrome.
